Best sets of Whartscape (for me): Small Sur, Wye Oak, Creepers, VBS, Sick Weapons, Degenerettes, Leprechaun Catering, AK Slaughter, Jared Paolini, Zomes, Crazy Dreams Band.
Food was was also great. Had a grilled pesto wrap both days that hit the spot. Would have been nice to have something to drink besides water or mint tea though.
Props to Robby Rackleff (The Blue Leader) for giving me a mega pass so I could catch Saturday's show. I don't know if it was, but it seemed this Whartscape was well run and everyone was on the ball. Great job by Wham City and everyone else involved. Got some much needed assistance from Sam Herring (Future Islands) in getting some ultra-chatty people to relocate from near my mics (I hate asking people directly because they have every right to talk at a show). My thanks and appreciation, also for their assistance, are Dan Deacon and Josh Kelberman.
The wind got the better of the recordings, which is why so few of the sets taped will surface. In addition, the heat was something else and my recorder shut down from over-heating both Saturday and Sunday (thankfully I brought a backup for that very reason).
My favorite set of the weekend (either this or Small Sur's excellent set) was Vincent Black Shadow:
